Lockers
A locker is someone that dances the style of dance called locking. The first people to do locking were called 'The Lockers' dance group as well.
A locker may also sometimes be called a Campbellocker after Don Campbell the creator of locking.
Lockers come in different shapes and sizes. In locking's earlier days before there was YouTube and ways to easily find out what was happening in other parts of the world in terms of locking, each area would have its own distinctive style.
Most of the early lockers would have learnt from watching Don Campbell and The Lockers on TV and in real life in the clubs that they would dance in such as Crenshaw Flats.
They would then take these dances back to wherever they came from and pass on the dance there. And so the early lockers in each area greatly influenced the future lockers that would come through.
This is how each area or locality could devlop a unique flavour of locking that would be different from others.
Since YouTube and video sites of course it has become much easier to find out what locking looks like in other parts of the world.
We are still in the early days of YouTube so can still see distinctively the different styles that are being practised.
The locking in different countries and on a larger scale different continents have vastly different styles on the whole.
This is why it is possible to learn locking from different people and learn different things, because they all have different ways that they have been taught and have different influences.
